Jasper is a city located west of the province of Alberta, Canada, near the border with the Province of British Columbia. It is bordered by the Athabasca River in Jasper National Park.
At about the same latitude as Edmonton, in the Rocky Mountains, near the border with British Columbia. Edson is the nearest town to the east, located on the road to Edmonton, the park boundary. Jasper, a road leads to British Columbia to the west and another leads to Banff, in the South.
Jasper is a village in the shape of "J", following the contours of the Athabasca River, a blue and fed by the Columbia Glacier, and the Miette River water to more unrest. On the other side thereof, is Whistler's Mountain, dominating the landscape on which a cable is installed, a restaurant is perched on its crest. The village is surrounded by several mountain ranges, with varying ages, lakes and hills, called Prehills. A mountain is the closest mountain Pyramid, triangular top and solid rock.
Located in the heart of Jasper National Park, the village is surrounded by forests with many kinds of wild animals like large deer and black bears.
Today the center of Jasper National Park, World Heritage Site, Jasper continues its role as a large community of modern transport and tourism. This is a great recreational destination ski and summer sports and the starting point of the Banff-Jasper Highway and the Yellowhead Highway that connects the communities of Northern Prairies to the West Coast. Over 2 million people pass through the community annually.
